Domain Status Checker

Check a domain's EPP status codes — and what they mean for transfers, renewals, and deletion.

What domain status codes mean

EPP status codes describe the current state of a domain at the registry. Codes like clientTransferProhibited and clientUpdateProhibited are normal protective locks set by the registrar. Others matter more: pendingDelete, redemptionPeriod, and serverHold signal that a domain is at risk of being lost or is already suspended. We list every status code returned for the domain.

Statuses worth watching

A domain moving into redemptionPeriod or pendingDelete usually means a renewal was missed and the clock is running out to recover it. A status code appearing or disappearing can also indicate a transfer in progress or a lock being lifted. Monitoring status changes catches these events while you can still act.

Frequently asked questions

Is clientTransferProhibited a problem?

No — it is a normal lock most registrars apply to prevent unauthorized transfers. You unlock it intentionally when you want to move a domain.

Can I be alerted on status changes?

Yes. A free account emails you when a monitored domain's status codes change.
